Hello everyone, it has been a while!
We are thrilled to announce the release date of our remix album, ‘Stranger’ on Wednesday 31st July 2024. The new release features a collection of brilliant artists that have spun out fun, charismatic and innovative takes of the original tracks from our 2021 release: ESTREN.
We first came up with this idea whilst working on the album itself, and we were influenced principally by the themes of the album – of identity, of human movement and how we use new sounds to capture old motifs.
Since maritime metaphors are common among us folkies, let us indulge in another… We don’t think that musical genres should be islands dotted around a vast ocean of aesthetic differences, and because of that we have brought in ten artists to develop bridges between our tracks and their own unique sounds with the view to authentically blend the two. Boy oh boy, do we think they have done an excellent job! Here’s our incredible team:

Folk music is all about storytelling and capturing human experiences and perspectives, and in this album we offer you ten unique perspectives – some of them collide, and others dance, but in the end our stories and melodies are reshaped into something different and exciting.
But beyond the music itself, this album serves as a reminder of the importance of collaboration, imagination, and most importantly having fun with a wonderfully diverse group of people.
Whether you’re a die-hard folk addict or a fan of all things electronic and alternative, we believe there is something for everyone in ‘Stranger’, and we invite you to sit back with a cuppa, or jump about the room with abandon and let these reimagined stories take you on a great adventure!
